Three Months

Elaine turned three months old yesterday.  She is a smiley, spirited little girl who loves her sleep (usually 9:00pm-6:00am with 0-2 feedings). I haven't caught her giggles on camera, because she's only done it a handful of times.

She's getting really good at reaching (flailing, really) to touch things and holding on to objects if they're put in her grasp.  Some days she still has episodes of heartburn (like last week at Mass!), but it has gotten much better.  At daycare and Grandmom's she drinks three big (5oz.) bottles - two weeks ago she weighed in at 12lb. 12oz.  Mommy's milk must be some good stuff! (If I may say so myself. ;)

As for us new parents...Mike's job is going spectacularly well.  My job is going - I'm just grateful to have it.  We've become adept at our new routine I think and almost always manage to get out the door on time wherever we go.  At home, I feel behind on everything - chores, thank you notes, exercising...I haven't found any time to cook, read, blog, or do anything other than take care of little E and get ready for work the next day.  But my family is my whole life now, and taking care of them is the only thing that's important, as far as worldly things go.  I am blessed just to be able to come home and be with them.  It's one of the greatest treasures in this world.

me me me!  I hit my starting weight last week.  :D  I feel great (other than not getting as much exercise as I would like) and fit back into all my clothes.  When those "skinny jeans" zipped, with room I might add, I was pretty shocked and felt like strutting around town announcing the good news.  I am a total believer in raw fruits and vegetables, so I try to eat them for snacks and as a supplement to meals.  I'm not sure if GirlScout cookies count as a "raw vegetable" per say, but if I want them, my body must need them, right?  Isn't that how that works?

Two weekends ago we got some very sad news - Mike's uncle Bobby passed away.  Please say a prayer that his soul is at peace in heaven.  Mike went home Friday-Wednesday of that week to be with his family and attend the funeral.  Elaine and I managed okay by ourselves, mostly because we were at my parents' house a lot and I didn't clean up after hardly anything.  I have a new appreciation for single moms after just a few days.

So tired from moving
Last weekend we helped Kelly and Sean move into their new house.  We were so excited for them!  Their house is terrific.  There's a switch in the bathroom to turn on heat, that is just great.  But seriously, it's really nice.  After a long day of the men moving furniture and the ladies watching the babes and packing, we were extremely tired and ended up being their first overnight guests.

On our way to Kelly and Sean's
This weekend we got to spend time with our (relatively) new couple friends, Chris and Elizabeth (who are due in June!) and Amanda and Anthony, whose wedding we went to in December.  I'm not sure if I've mentioned before that we met all of them through our Catholic young adult group.  It is so wonderful to have such great people in our lives who share our values and are at the same stage in their family lives.  It's been a very long time since I had any close girlfriends and I'm so grateful God has put them in my life.  Love you gals!  Mike also got to go skiing at the local "mountain" with friends and he had a blast!

Next weekend is Elaine's baptism!!!  We are so excited for her to receive her first sacrament and are so thankful for any family and friends who are coming to celebrate with us.  Kelly and Sean have honored us by being her godparents.  Oh my!  I haven't thought about her gown!  Aren't they supposed to wear something special?  Oh dear...well she may be wearing her Steeler's outfit or something if I don't get that figured out.

Today we're going to be "watching" the superbowl with my parents.  Mike says he really doesn't want to watch it since he really doesn't want either team to have another superbowl win, so who knows we may end up doing something else.  And Villanova plays today (for those who don't know, we had a pretty exciting week where we beat two top-five ranked teams, so the season is getting exciting).  In between, we're attempting to catch up around the house and get in a workout, and of course cuddle and smother our beautiful daughter with love.

Muckian trivia...
  • Mike joined an indoor soccer league that will play on Tuesdays
  • Our favorite pet names to call our daughter - little honey bee (my most-used), buttercup (Daddy's usual choice), Ellie fish (I'm trying out the nickname I thought we would use...I like it. Shoutout to Gammy!), and bug
  • We may do family TV time one night a week to watch Modern Family and Project Runway
