Elaine placed every toy of his she could find on his chair for him. |
In January, life started to calm down and we worked on settling into this new WONDERFUL normal. Elaine took very well to being a big sister (see right), staying home absolutely agrees with me still, and Mike is thriving at the new company.

| She loves all kinds of artistic activities. |

| Baptized January 11, 2015 by Pastor John |
 |
| With godfather Kyle and good friend Jen |
 |
| Uncle Chris and Aunt Chelle |
We had two snowfalls that were fairly significant, especially for this area. Elaine loved playing in the snow with Daddy - even Martin was able to get outside for a few minutes.
 |
| Mike took Elaine into his office one evening. |
Martin
- Measurements
- Birth 6lb.-5oz.
- Four days 6lb.-2oz.
- One month 9lb.-3oz. (27th%), 21.5in. length (44th%), 14.75in. H.C. (53rd%)
- Two month (9 week) 11lb.-10oz. (25th%), 24in. (83rd%), 15.5in H.C. (49th%)
- I have been using cloth diapers with him and they have been very successful. Very few blowouts compared to disposable, which I only use at night.
- Martin started to use his glowy seahorse around 7 weeks. He doesn't hold his pacifier in for long, but does use it to fall asleep.
- Fall asleep, yes, but stay asleep? Never for long. He went through weeks of less than 3 hour stretches. So between nursing and getting myself back to sleep, I was sleeping in 2 1/2 hour spurts. I almost. lost. my mind. Meanwhile, Elaine refused to nap for almost a week straight, so I was not napping either. At all.
- He did roll from front to back at 6 weeks, two days in a row, but didn't do it again for a long time.
- I was starting to realize about this time that he is a very easy baby, but not a "good sleeper." He almost never fusses except for a warning shriek when he's getting uncomfortable or impatient for something. But, as I predicted from his prenatal activity level, he remains very "lazy" and doesn't get worked up about much (and doesn't kick out of swaddles). Whereas Elaine was the opposite - she could scream and cry forever during the day for seemingly no reason (drama drama mama, always), but slept 6+ hours at night from the first day home (if I recall right). And wouldn't stay in any swaddle, no matter how much duct tape we used. (Kidding.)
Elaine
- Her two year appointment in November: 27lb.-0oz. (64th%), 35.75in. (90th%), 19.25 H.C. (87.5%)
- She did enjoy getting out a little toward the end of the month, when our doctor-ordered house arrest was officially over. (I was so worried about exposing them to germs...flu apparently was really bad in this area. Elaine had it at Christmas and she only went out maybe once I think.)
- We ordered a waffle maker and made our first homemade waffles (Elaine still tries to eat them every day) and a pop-corn maker, with Mammom and Pop-pop's gift card.
- Elaine started her "Why?" phase - a question, followed by our answer, followed by another why, and another answer, and another why,...
- ...and her lengthy "because" monologues: "Because - Daddy has to go to work because - I have to give Daddy a hug. Because. I need to eat my snack..."
- Elaine is beginning to have a sort of concept of time. She at least understood 8:00AM is when Daddy goes to work.
- She started to wear bows in her hair! To keep those awful bangs out of her eyes. I was resisting giving her trimmed bangs for forever, but eventually I had no choice.
- She has a very good understanding of cause and effect and can explain "why" certain things herself. She uses her language to clearly state what she needs, what she observes us doing, etc.
- Please recognize my bravery - I took both kids to the DMV to get myself a new driver's license and change the address for our title. It took about an hour and a half, but Martin slept and Elaine was very well behaved.

He started exercising his smiling muscles at one month, but wasn't smiling in reaction until around 8 weeks. |

| That's our daughter. Reading about math. |
 |
| She is very interested in Playmobile these days. |
 |
| This was all her doing. |
Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation - if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2-3
