Every day I treasure the moments with my beautiful family - from Elaine's first smile when I peek over her crib to her last smile when I kiss her goodnight. I cannot fathom that what I have every day is something millions of people would give the world for. When I first heard Elaine say "Ma Ma" last weekend, my heart melted more than I thought possible.
Our silly girl is eight months old. She loves eating solid foods (are you surprised?). So far she's had cereal, carrots, sweet potato, banana, avocado, peas, squash, and a bagel. I feel behind - she would probably enjoy so many more foods - but I got off to a slow start with her. It was hard figuring out each new thing and making the effort to prepare foods for daycare. It's part of our routine now, so it's much easier.
She's not crawling or coasting or pulling to standing yet. She seems much more interested in using her hands to pull things apart, push them down, grab and yank into the mouth, etc. and not very interested in learning new ways to move. She's so good at rolling, it seems to me that she's content with that.
We're hearing new sounds too - including "Ma Ma." That happened over one weekend when I would leave the room, she would get a little distressed and call out "Ma Ma!" Needless to say that got me back in the room quickly.
| Her eyes are still blue/gray. I wonder...? |
She absolutely adores her daddy. I love seeing the two of them together.
This is from Saturday morning when I dragged her to the saddest "farmer's market" I've ever seen: two tables of (overpriced) produce, one table of baked goods, and one table of coffee.
At least I made something out of it - mashed squash and peas.
Elaine got to play with cousin Mark when the Colliers were in town. It was hilarious watching them grab everything out of each other's hands, but they're just too young to care.

| Absurd. |
I had to post before we got too far into July - we are booked solid. Wednesday we're leaving for Pittsburgh for Independence week (that's for you, Glenn Beck), then Mike's leaving for the week. That weekend I'm getting together with some friends from college and the next weekend we're leaving to NC for 5+ days.
Happy Independence Day, everyone! Have a safe and happy holiday. :)
