In the Life of Smikel: A new year

I'm going to work backwards...

Friday Elaine had her two month doctor appointment. She weighs 12lb. 1oz. and is 23.75" long. My big girl! :) The doctor says she's very healthy, although we did get prescriptions for heartburn medicine (she's had a tough week with acid reflux).

This weekend we visited Kelly, Sean and Mark at their apartment (for the last time!). We had a lovely day with them - we stayed in and visited and they certainly fed us well. I love doing "nothing" with them!

New Years we went out to Mike's new coworker's party. We were the only work people there, everyone else was close family and friends. They had such a nice family though, there were so many children running around (two other infants born September and October), even one eight month pregnant couple. The party was pretty amazing in itself, great food, plenty of beverages, fun party games and of course great company.

Our first Christmas as a family was busy, busy, busy! We managed to decorate our apartment and get a tree up. We also got all our shopping done, even though one night Mike had to run out by himself to get the last few things. Two days before Christmas we were fortunate to get to spend the day with my whole family together. It was wonderful! Then on Christmas Eve we drove to Pittsburgh and made it there in time for 4:00PM Mass. Elaine was terrific in the car, both on the trip there and on the way back. She slept most the time and woke up at our stops to eat.

We got to stay the whole week with Mike's family, mostly keeping indoors and taking turns with the baby. We were pretty well snowed in with over 6". Elaine had a great time opening gifts with Grandma and Grandpa.
