Elaine's half birthday

At six months, Elaine is doing so many new things.  Sitting (almost unassisted), rolling and rolling, sipping from cups, dragging everything off the table, babbling and saying consonants, scooting backwards...

That fever from my last post turned into Roseola and she had to stay home for most of the week.  Her fever peaked at 103, then she had a rash.

She currently is sick with something else.  It started like a cold, then she developed a slight fever, now is coughing and wheezing.  Good thing she has her six month check-up on Tuesday.

She rolls over so easily now.
Still happy, even though she's sick.

At night I find her on her tummy.
She grabs for everything.
And does not like when something gets taken away from her.
Of course everything is going in her mouth at this stage.

That's not her finger, it's the ring on the toy.

Daddy took us on a date.

She can finally reach up and grab those birds.

She loves listening to him play.
Since the last post, we've been up to a few things, as always...
  • We participated in our church's Evangalization Day.  We went door to door in a neighborhood inviting people to our church and handing out literature.  It was a very personally rewarding experience.
  • I went to my good friend Elizabeth's baby shower.  It was such a cute party!  I enjoyed meeting some of her friends and relatives.  We're SO excited to meet their little girl!!!
  • Speaking of little girls...we wen to see Clayton and Missy's new baby, Quenlin.  I can't believe Elaine used to be that small.
  • Mike has been elected president of Metanoia, our young adult Catholic faith group!  We've had several meetings and Bible studies. (See photos of our weekly Bible study, and the last president's going away party.)
  • Mike went to NYC for a biotech show, which he says is pretty cool.
  • The last two Fridays it has taken me over two hours to drive home. :(
  • Today I went with three girlfriends from our Metanoia group (one pregnant with one, one pregnant with two, the other recently married) to a mother's market. It was small and didn't have many small girl's clothing (the other ladies are also having girls).  We also hit a neighborhood yard sale - there are a TON going on in our area this weekend.  I really feel like I bonded with the girls, I'm so happy to be making such great friendships with girls my age who share our values and who are in the same chapter in life.
  • Next weekend we're all hitting up a bigger mother's market down the street.  I'm excited!!
  • Mike's parents are coming to visit next weekend - we don't have any big plans yet, just the mother's market.  I suppose we might do something to celebrate Mother's Day, but idk what!
  • Tomorrow I'm going back to Kansas City for two days.  I really didn't want to go on another trip so soon, but I didn't have a real reason not to and my boss was pushing me.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I loved that plaid outfit. She looks adorable and I'm thrilled to hear she is doing so well. Other than the sicknesses. I hope Your trip goes well and traffic starts to ease up for you. Love you
