Mike and I are were both looking for jobs since March or April. His old company paid less that 10% of our health care costs (it's about $1,200+ for a family). Also the company become very slow and started laying people off and encouraging people to take unpaid vacation, so we decided we needed something more stable and sustainable.
We spent many days with Jessica, Barry and their boys Jack and Noah before we left. I was picking the boys up two days a week after daycare, since Jessica had started a new job with later hours. I even brought Jack to several soccer practices.
Once I knew we were leaving, I took pictures of our house. I never feel like my house is clean enough for pictures, but I wanted the kids to remember. And I wanted to remember it too. It was a very good house for us - our first (rental) house that we lived in together and is where we had Martin of course.
I love every day with these people!
We weren't able to make one last visit to the Dardens, so they came to us! It was such a wonderful time.
That summer, Mike's sister Michelle got Married and Uncle Chris, Jeremiah and Nobel joined the family. =) It was a destination wedding at Hatteras beach. Elaine was flower girl and Martin was supposed to somehow be part of it, but they were both sick as dogs! The day of the wedding was the worst, raging fevers, they were so exhausted and cranky and not eating well. We made it through, but it was difficult...Elaine wouldn't even wear the dress she was supposed to wear.
I didn't get photos of the ceremony, because I was in it. I'm not sure how I can share the photographer's photos. Once the kids felt better, we had a nice week at the beach.
I wish the photos could have captured better the magic in these moments.
